Earn to Die series were made using Flash, and as time moved on and technology advanced, Flash was no longer used and those games, once very famous, became unplayable. Earn to Die 2012 is a newer version, not based on Flash, that can be played online for free.
So what were these online games about? It's the zombie apocalypse, and waves of undead are roaming everywhere. In Earn to Die your task is to destroy as many zombies as you can before your car runs out of fuel. After each run, you can upgrade your car, or buy a new one with the money you have earned. Those upgrades are very important, as they can really improve your run. This looks like a simple recipe for a game, but it was so successful that it was replicated and copied by many other developers over the years, but none made it as good as Earn to Die.
